No matter the format — cut flowers in a vase on the kitchen table, growing flowers in pots or the ground outside, pressed flower jewelry, dried bouquets to preserve their special memories, they bring joy. This time of year, countless flower varieties bloom and show off their glory. Springtime is often synonymous with fresh flowers, and it’s the perfect time to incorporate florals into your homemade bath and body recipes. Explore below 3 flower-filled recipes to help you push through the remaining cold weather.

Lavender & Lemon Sugar Scrub

Lavender & Lemon Sugar Scrub

by Cindy Long from Willow and Sage Spring 2025

You Will Need

  • • 2–3 TB. of dried lavender flowers
  • • 1–2 TB. of dried lemon rind
  • • Zester
  • • Paper towel
  • • ¾ cup of coconut oil
  • • Bowl
  • • 3 cups of white sugar
  • • Spoon
  • • 35 drops of lavender essential oil
  • • Glass jars: w/ hinged lids, 6-oz.

To Make

To prepare the dried lemon rind, zest two large lemons, spread the zest out onto a paper towel, and let it dry. It will take about two days to fully dry. To melt the coconut oil, remove the jar lid, and heat the jar in the microwave until the oil is liquid and can be poured. In a bowl, mix the sugar and warm coconut oil until blended. Add the essential oil, lavender flowers, and lemon rind, and stir to combine.

Violet Rose Lotion Bars

Violet Rose Lotion Bars

by Kristen Wood from Willow and Sage Spring 2022

You Will Need

  • • Saucepan: small
  • • 4 oz. of sweet almond oil
  • • 2 TB. of dried rose petals
  • • 2 TB. of dried violet blossoms
  • • Strainer
  • • Double boiler
  • • 4 oz. of cocoa butter
  • • 4 oz. of white beeswax
  • • 5 drops of rose absolute essential oil (optional)
  • • Silicone molds

To Make

In a small saucepan over low heat, add the sweet almond oil, dried rose petals, and dried violet blossoms. Heat for about three minutes, and then turn off the heat. Let the oil infusion sit for at least one hour. Strain the dried flowers if you would prefer super smooth lotion bars; otherwise, keep them in the oil for visual appeal and to add an exfoliating effect to the bars.

In a double boiler over medium heat, add the infused oil, cocoa butter, and beeswax. Heat until all liquifies, about five minutes. Stir in the essential oil, if using, and pour the mixture into the silicone molds of your choice. Let the bars sit until cool and hardened completely, about one hour, before removing from the molds.
