Sugar scrubs are one of the best — and simplest — recipes to master when it comes to your homemade bath and body routine. Most likely, you already have the supplies in your kitchen cupboards, and this is one of those recipes that welcomes substitutions. You can experiment with various carrier oils depending on your skin type and needs, as well as different types of sugar. When it comes to sugar, one with a coarser grain will provide a more powerful exfoliant. The following basic recipe doesn’t include any additives, like essential oils, spices or herbs, or seeds; feel free to add on to the recipe as it best suits your skin-care routine. No matter how old I get, I still find nostalgia in the back-to-school craze. Although I’ve been out of school myself for many years, there’s still something about the slow end of summer, gearing up for a jam-packed fall season. I might not need new school supplies anymore, but sometimes I use this time to invest in new office supplies or rearrange parts of my home. As my summer garden stops producing, it feels like a natural transition to a new season and routine.
As the summer months heat up, it’s crucial to have a go-to treatment to balance your skin from sun exposure and impurities. From soothing sunburns and inflammation, to combating dryness and oily skin, ice cubes reap countless benefits when applied to your face. The cooling effect eases irritated skin and simply feels great when trying to beat the heat.

Once summertime hits, my feet need some care. As the weather warms up, I’m rarely seen wearing shoes, preferring to run around either barefoot or in sandals. Not only do my feet seem to get dirty quickly, but they are also prone to soreness, dry skin, and cracked heels. If I stay on top of caring for them from the beginning of the season, I can typically keep these issues under control. This detox foot soak is one of the ways I do this.
