As I plan and tend my garden, I like to keep in mind what each plant type can be used for — both practically and aesthetically — to make my life simpler and easier. There’s nothing quite like being able to pick fresh basil for the pizza I’m making for dinner, snip cilantro for breakfast tacos, or make a floral bouquet from my own selection. Many garden varieties can also be used in your homemade bath and body recipes, from scrubs and facial steams, to bath salts, salves, and hydrosols. Here, I’ve included my top 20 homegrown plants to utilize in my skin-care products.

When I was living in Santa Monica, California, I spent a lot of time wandering: through farmers’ markets, on the beach, and in and out of surf shops even though I had no idea how to surf. I tried it twice, and both times I was a little clumsy. But I love surf shops nonetheless because I always find hidden gems in them — cute bikinis, handmade bracelets, and one particular bottle of Maui Babe Browning Lotion. I bought it on the spot because I liked that all of the ingredients were listed right up front and it smelled like coffee.

Sometimes the best form of self-care is releasing all your thoughts on paper. Whether with a specific intention or free flowing, writing is a wonderful way to clear your mind. We’ve put together a list of journaling prompts to help you re-center at the end of a long week. Here is to taking the time to consider our needs and doing what we can to meet them 💕

Gift-giving for the men in my life can be challenging. They tend to buy what they want when they want it, which makes it difficult when racking my brain for memorable or practical options. I often have to get creative, and sometimes I choose to make them something rather than purchase it from a store.
