Spring is in the air! To celebrate, we’re sharing a few of our favorite floral skin-care recipes. From lip plumping mask to body scrub, your skin will enjoy the benefits of these recipes all throughout the season 🌸
-Knife/Soap cutter
-Glycerin melt-and-pour soap base
-Glass measuring cup
-Molds: assorted
-Dried flowers & herbs
-Toothpick
Cut the glycerin melt-and-pour soap base into 1-inch cubes, and place in a glass measuring cup. Melt the soap base in the microwave for 15-second increments until just melted. Stir to combine throughly. Pour the soap base into assorted molds, filling only halfway. Gently place dried wildflowers and herbs into the molds, and use a toothpick to arrange them as desired. Finish filling the molds with the remaining soap base. Use a toothpick to move the dried elements as needed and to remove any unwanted air bubbles. Let harden for a few hours before removing from the molds.
*Note: Instead of filling the mold all the way to the top after placing the elements, let harden at three-fourths full for 15 minutes before pouring the remaining soap base. This will help keep the elements suspended in the middle of the soap.Â
-1 tsp. organic sugar, fine
-10-12 drops olive/avocado oil
-Bowl
To prepare a quick sugar scrub, mix together fine organic sugar and olive or avocado oil in a bowl. Gently rub the mixture onto your lips, and rinse off.
-3 TB. dried rose petals/rose petal powder
-Blender
-Fine-mesh strainer
-1 TB. plain yogurt, unsweetened
-2 TB. raw organic honey, unfiltered
-Bowl: small
-Cayenne pepper (optional)
-Glass jar: small
Grind the dried rose petals in a blender until very fine, and strain out larger petal pieces with a fine-mesh strainer. Alternatively, you can use rose petal powder. Combine the yogurt, honey, and ground rose petals in a small bowl, and mix thoroughly. Add a dash of cayenne pepper to plump your lips, if desired. Store the lip mask in a small glass container in the fridge, and use within three days. To use, apply the mask to your lips and let sit for 15-20 minutes while relaxing in a bathtub while lying down. Rinse off, and follow with a natural lip balm to seal in moisture.
*Note: do a patch test before using cayenne pepper (or any spice) on your lips. Do not use cayenne pepper on chapped lips, and do not rub in a product containing cayenne pepper.
