Fresh-smelling soap is sure to get you in the mood for warmer weather and the arrival of a new season! Not only are these lemongrass and ginger soaps simple to make, but they also make great gifts. Adding details such as a sand dollar and starfish or sprinkling with herbs makes for the perfect little embellishment!
1. To start, place stamp texture side up in the tin. We used the sand dollar and starfish stamps from Christine Adolph’s Shore Cliff Elements stamp set.
2. Spritz or rub the tins (or whatever mold you’ve chosen) with rubbing alcohol or vodka. This will help ensure your soap will slide out of the mold once it’s set.
3. Use a soap cutter to cut the soap base into small, cube-sized pieces. To make 3-4 bars of soap, use approximately 1/2 pound of soap base.
4. Next, fill a microwavable glass mason jar (without the lid or rim) with the pieces of soap, and heat in a microwave for 30 seconds. Carefully remove the jar from the microwave (use a potholder or gloves, since the glass might be hot) and place on a heat-safe surface.
5. Add 5 drops each of lemongrass and ginger essential oil. Stir, and then place in the microwave for an additional 5 seconds. Carefully remove the jar from the microwave (use a potholder or gloves, as soap mixture will be hot) and place on a heat-safe surface.
6. Pour the soap base into the mold very slowly and carefully. You want to surround your stamp with soap but not submerge it.
7. Add a sprinkle of bath herbs to the top.
8. Let set for 4 hours. We put ours in the refrigerator to speed up the process. Once set, simply pop soap out of the mold!
